I'm in a pickle

As you might recall, I’m newly obsessed with the idea of making my own pickles. I haven’t actually done it but I like to think I will so I’ve bought equipment and reading material, which is practically the same as doing it, right?
By this same logic, taking my gym bag to the office equals a work out, by the way.
So imagine my frustration that the Ninth Annual New York City International Pickle Day is this Saturday — but I already have plans! They’re good plans, hanging out with my dad when he comes to visit, watching the Michigan-Michigan State football game together. But still, on the Web site they say:

And this year – COME IN COSTUME!

And mmmmmmmm…. Pickle dishes at all the LES restaurants! (and don’t forget those pickled barroom condiments…)
On Orchard Street, just one block away, designers will be strutting their visions of the perfect Pickle Day outfit – from theater makeup to shoes.

Apparently I will need to settle for going to the New York Food Museum some other day, when people are not in pickle costumes.
What events get you excited about learning new skills or adding new interests to your life?

I'm Colleen Newvine, and I would love to help you navigate your evolution or revolution
